Yvonne Tay is an award-winning Singaporean guzheng soloist and artistic leader renowned for her technical brilliance and expressive musicality. A first-class honors graduate of the Royal College of Music and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), she was mentored by the esteemed Yin Qun, whose guidance shaped her disciplined technique and artistic integrity.
Currently a full-time guzheng musician with the Ding Yi Music Company, Tay is a leading voice in the contemporary Chinese chamber music scene. Critics have frequently praised her captivating stage presence, with The Straits Times noting that she has “dazzled on guzheng” in high-profile showcases. Her versatility spans traditional classics and demanding contemporary premieres, such as the concerto As Thus 《如是》. Of this performance, Lianhe Zaobao remarked that her “musical sense is excellent,” marking her as a performer with “limitless potential.“
Consistently recognised as one of the “nation’s best young soloists,” Tay also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Singapore Chinese Music Federation Youth Chapter and Secretary General of the Singapore Qinzheng Association. Through her work as Artistic Director of Music Kneads, she continues to push the boundaries of her instrument, bridging heritage with modern, interdisciplinary expression.
